The casing is made with cast iron along with thick walls and ribbed construction and sealed against dust and oil leaks. The gears are made of special steel. It is case hardened and extremely hard wearing. The helical gear wheels are smooth-running and are scraped or grounded with tooth profiles. The bearings are generously dimensioned. The lubrication is done by filling the correct level of grease or oil in the gear boxes. With proper lubrication, the gear boxes can function for 10,000 operation hours and at a temperature of -30 to +80 degrees.
