Vulkan's integral shaft supports (ISS) were developed for applications that require torsionally flexible connection of a cardan shaft (long, heavy) in a comparably large angle of inclination. The connected shaftline should have limited loads, in order to allow use of the shaft support.
The ISS is the result of integrating torsional flexible coupling to a bellhousing and roller bearings system, built for absorbing radial and axial load from the cardan shaft. This design is also suitable for unloading to the prime mover main housing, and shielding the prime shaft bearings. The link to the prime mover is done through an SAE J620-compliant flywheel connection ranging from 14" to 21" (others upon request), and an SAE J617a-compliant flywheel housing.
The support's torque ranges from 0.63 kNm to 20 kNm.
