The calorimetric type of flow sensor is ideally suited for measuring low flow rates with high accuracy . It consists of two temperature sensors placed close to, but insulated from each other. One among them is consistently heated. Since flowing fluid absorbs heat, the difference in temperature between the two sensors becomes an index of the flow rate.

SW-600 series from RECHNER makes use of this phenomenon and has an advanced electronic control to accurately calculate the flow rate. They find applications such as in safety control units for coolant supply and liquid media detection in processing and mechanical plants.
