Utilizing a simple magnetic method, the Magna-Mike? 8600 by Olympus can make repeatable and reliable measurements for non-ferrous materials. This portable thickness gauge is quite easy to operate: the magnetic probes are scanned or held on one side of the test material to get the measurements and then a target wire, disk or ball is placed on the other side or placed inside an enclosure. With the Hall Effect sensor, one can measure the distance between the target ball and the probe tip and immediately see the results in the large colored display.
