In order to facilitate sample preparation in Karl Fischer titration, the KF Evaporator is used by way of azeotropic distillation.

Water is separated from the sample matrix, as with the oven method. The electrodes and titration vessel are not contaminated as the actual sample itself stays in the evaporation chamber. Unwanted matrix effects and side reactions are also avoided when using the KF Evaporator.
