Knitted wire mesh bandages, also known as knitted wire mesh cable screening or knitted wire lay-flat mesh, are generally used to wrap cable-forms, wiring systems or conduit to provide a high integrity 4-layer screen, which, if adequately grounded, can greatly reduce radiated interference.
Manufactured in tubular form as a knitted wire stocking, the knitted mesh bandage comes supplied as a flat tape. As with the rest of our knitted mesh range of products, this EMI shielding material is available in four basic wire types Monel, Aluminium, TCS (Tinned Copper-clad Steel) and Stainless Steel, but others, such as brass, are available by special order.
The tape is approximately 0.4mm thick and in use it should be wrapped & overlapped by 50% to provide full EMI shielding effectiveness. Each end should be soldered or clamped, without being twisted into a ?pigtail? which could then become an antenna.
