The Diatomaceous Earth(DE) filtration process provides effective high quality cost effective drinking water. US Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) presently approves DE filtration for surface water treatment rule (SWTR) that suits smaller communities. DE filtration has been successfully implemented for 70 years, serving food and beverages applications, particularly generating safe drinking water during WWII and ever since.

The process uses diatomaceous earth as the filtering agent that contains fossil like skeletal remains of single celled microscopic water plants called diatoms. The easily operated pre-coat filtration placed on the septum or filter element efficiently removes cysts, algae and asbestos from impure water.
