The resistive glass ion guides by FieldMaster have demonstrated a great improvement when it comes to ion transmission, in comparison with other conventional tubes. The items can be easily removed or cleaned, without any performance degradation. The solid tube design provides containment for counter-flow gas, eliminating the need for additional enclosure.

PHOTONIS has also developed a series of specialty glass tubes that can be used with any analytical instrument, being useful for designers and manufacturers, facilitating the movement of ion samples, providing a specific, electric field strength. The ion guides and drift tubes are also composed of a proprietary lead silicate glass, doped to produce a resistive surface.

Note that the tubes can also be etched, while optimization of the current flow can be provided by leads. Resistivity can vary over several magnitude orders. Drift tubes and ion guides can be ordered in standard sizes or etched.
