The aerosol separators manufactured by Wiegand? are used for retrofitting of existing plants. The systems are efficient to use when formation of aerosols is expected, which cannot be prevented under technological aspects.

The dispersion of fine liquid or solid particles in gas are known as aerosols. During cooling and condensation of exhaust gas flow, aerosols may occur. This instance may be caused by two pollutant elements having effects that offset each other. It can also be due to particular physicochemical characteristics.

Using a typical gas scrubber will not separate aerosols. If separation is possible, aerosols are first increased.

GEA Wiegand? utilizes a combination of special jet scrubbers, cooling column, Venturi scrubber or cartridge filter. The combinations are applied depending on the requirement.
