The EMAT transducers are single-element units for the transmission and reception of ultrasonic waves, with the use of a magneto-strictive effect. The transmitters are designed for use with an EPOCH LT, EPOCH XT or EPOCHEPOCH 4PLUS flaw detector, as well as a 37-DL PLUS thickness gauge. For continuous contact, the temperature specification range is 32 to 140 degrees Fahrenheit, and for intermittent contact, which is defined as 60 seconds of cooling time and ten seconds of contact with the specific part, the temperature is 176 degrees Fahrenheit.

No copulant is required with these transmitters, which work without the need to remove the external scale. Their design allows them to be used in areas with elevated material temperatures, on external surfaces that are oxide scaled and on diameter pipes. For enhanced magnetic field levels, an adjustable metal ring protects the surface.
