The Tettex 2820a is an inductance, capacitance and impedance meter, with an accuracy capacitance of 0.1 %, and a dissipation factor of 1x10E-4. The meter is made to measure low-dielectric losses and impedance of high voltage equipment like bushing insulation. It uses the combination of bridge vector meter principle to analyze highly accurate and stable capacitive, and inductive loads.

The meter is equipped with a graphical user interface with high intuitiveness. The graphical user interface is used with its fixed programs such as tuning support tools for external high voltage supply, and with its large colored touchscreen input.
