The QG inclination sensors are capable of measuring angles in 1 or 2 axes. A micro-mechanical sensor chip converts the capacitance differences into an analog voltage. This is based on the MEMS technology. The analogue voltage is proportional to the angle that the sensor is exposed at. The sensors can be adapted to any sort of requirement owing to its modular design. The inclination sensor is used when accurate positioning or constant monitoring of the angle in relation to gravitational pull is necessary. The inclination sensor will measure the angle that is with respect to a horizontal position, and the reference point here would be an imaginary line from the center of the earth. The sensor finds a wide range of applications as it is very easy to mount anywhere as required. It is used, among many other applications to provide tilt protection for cranes.
